The Brave Gladiators have stepped up their preparations ahead of their 2024 Women’s African Nations Cup against Gambia that will take place in Morocco 21 September (1st Leg) and 24 September (2nd Leg).

Coach Paulus Shipanga stated that he was happy with the players he roped in for this camp, adding that they will now be looking forward to all the matches with a positive mindset.

“We started with preparations two weeks ago and we strictly focused on fitness for those past weeks. From this week moving forward, we will be going into the tactical aspect of the game. We learned a lot from our previous encounter against Equatorial Guinea, we are working on rectifying the mistakes we made during those games and perfecting our stronger areas.

He further adds that the team knows what is at stake and will not take the WAFCON Qualifiers against Gambia lightly.

Gambia wants to win this round as much as we want to, and it is now up to us to make sure that we go out there and do our best. The goal is to qualify for the 2024 WAFCON tournament, which will take place in Morocco next year.

The winner of this round between the two nations will play the winner against Rwanda vs Ghana and the winner in the second round will automatically progress to next year’s WAFCON tournament to take place in Morocco.

Speaking on the 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers against Morocco, Shipanga said

“We will be playing against a stronger side in the second and crucial round of the Olympic Games qualifiers, most of Morocco’s squad comprises of players who are plying their trade in top clubs, Morocco is coming from the World Cup. And coming into this round, we know what we must bring in the kind of talent that would match what we would be up against, and I believe the current crop of players with the addition of the four foreign based players will bring their A game come October.

The second of the 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers between Namibia and Morocco for the 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers will take place during the 23-31 October 2023 (Venues still to be communicated)
