About The NFA

The Namibian Football Association (NFA) is the governing body for football in Namibia. It is responsible for organizing and promoting football activities throughout the country.

Established in 1990, it earned affiliations to FIFA and CAF in 1992, marking its entry into the global and continental football community. The primary goal of the NFA is to cultivate a football culture and industry that brings entertainment and economic benefits to all stakeholders. Furthermore, the NFA aims to achieve dominance within the confederation through the professional administration of the game.

The NFA remains dedicated to fulfilling its vision of creating a football-rich nation and contributing to the growth of football in Africa. Through its various initiatives, leagues, and development programs, the NFA seeks to harness the power of football to foster cohesion and unity within society while providing a platform for talent to flourish.

NFA LEAGUES

The NFA organizes various football events and competitions at different age groups and levels. These include local leagues, regional tournaments, and national championships:

  1. Debmarine Namibia Premiership: This premiership league is the pinnacle of Namibian football, featuring the country's top tier men's professional clubs competing for the national championship.
  2. FNB Women Super League: The NFA recognizes the importance of women's football and has established the FNB Women Super League to promote and support women's participation in the sport.
  3. Nationwide First Division: The First Division serves as a second-tier league below the Premiership. It provides aspiring clubs with a pathway to elevate their status and compete in the top tier.
  4. Regional Second Division: Operating at the regional level, this division offers opportunities for clubs from various regions to exhibit their talent and advance to higher tiers of football.

Additionally, the association partners with International Association Football Federation (FIFA), Confederation of African Football (CAF), Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA), and other football bodies to participate in international competitions and exchanges.

The NFA also invests in youth development programs to identify and nurture young talents across the country, offering them opportunities to train, compete, and potentially join professional football clubs, locally and abroad.
