Head Coach, Collin Benjamin, and Team Captain, Ananias Gebhardt of the Tafel Lager Brave Warriors, are confident that the Warriors will carry the day tomorrow, 9th September 2023, when they meet South Africa at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, at 15h00.

This was said during a press conference held at the Orlando Stadium ahead of the crucial friendly match against South Africa.

Benjamin said his team has the highest respect for their neighbouring country and counterparts , and because of that, they vow to give their absolute best.

“Apart from playing time, there are no friendly games nowadays. South Africa has what we want, and we have to try and get it the only way we know how, and that is on the pitch.”

“There’s no doubt that we face a formidable opponent. We have a lot to learn from this match in terms of our targets, principles and formations. Our players will not only look to showcase their skills, but also fight for their places for the end product that is the AFCON finals, should we make it.” he remarked.

He added that the team aims to expose some of their local based players.

“We have unearthed a few raw unpolished diamonds, whom I will not name right now. These boys are young, talented and eager to deliver. I am looking forward to unleashing them tomorrow and watching them do their magic.” Benjamin said.

Sadly, the Brave Warriors will have to fight the battle without their most reliable talisman, Peter Shalulile.

“His absence is an obvious blow to the team. One of Sundowns best players, you will know the impact and significant role he plays in this team.Nonetheless, this will be an opportunity for other players to use the platform to showcase their talent, and for us to make our pool bigger.” He stated.

Gebhardt, echoed Coach Benjamin’s sentiments by stating that the team is fit and ready to embrace the challenge that lays ahead.

“We have a structure in place, specifically built to face our counterparts, disrupt their rhythm and by God’s grace, walk out victorious.”

Speaking on the team’s key strengths, Gebhardt said “we are a family, on and off the pitch, we want to succeed and I strongly believe that this will be our greatest strength tomorrow.”
