The Namibia Football Association (NFA), in partnership with FNB Namibia, officially launched the 2026/27 FNB Women’s Super League (WSL) season at FNB’s headquarters in Windhoek on Tuesday, reaffirming their shared commitment to the growth, development and sustainability of women’s football in Namibia.
The launch marked another significant milestone in the partnership between the two institutions, highlighting the importance of sustained investment in creating opportunities for female footballers and strengthening the women’s game at both domestic and national levels.

Speaking at the occasion, NFA Vice President Mr Jakobus Markus reflected on the significance of the launch, which coincides with the Association’s 35th anniversary, celebrating more than three decades of resilience, progress and commitment to football development in Namibia.
Markus commended FNB Namibia for its continued investment in the Women’s Super League, acknowledging the bank’s contribution towards nurturing talent, improving competitiveness and providing a platform for female footballers to realise their potential.
He further highlighted the positive impact of the partnership on the national women’s team, the Brave Gladiators, whose recent COSAFA Women’s Championship triumph stands as a testament to the progress being made in women’s football.
The achievement, he noted, not only brought pride to the nation but also demonstrated what can be accomplished through meaningful collaboration between football authorities, government and the private sector.
The occasion also provided an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable journey of women’s football in Namibia, from the early challenges of gaining recognition and support to the establishment of a structured national league that continues to produce talent and strengthen the player development pathway to the Brave Gladiators.
Markus also acknowledged the contribution of NFA Patron and Prime Minister, Right Honourable Dr Elijah Ngurare, recognising his commitment to youth development and his continued support for sport as a powerful tool for unity, empowerment and national development.
As part of its continued commitment to the league, FNB Namibia announced an additional N$111,000 in sponsorship funding to accommodate inflation, further reinforcing its dedication to the sustainable growth of women’s football.
The 2026/27 season will see 12 teams compete for domestic honours, with defending champions FC Ongos looking to retain their crown as the country’s premier women’s football competition prepares for another exciting campaign.
Beyond the competition for silverware, the FNB Women’s Super League remains a vital platform for identifying and developing talent, providing female footballers with regular competitive opportunities while strengthening the foundation of the national women’s team.
The continued partnership between the NFA and FNB Namibia reflects a shared vision of building a stronger, more competitive and inclusive football landscape, where female players are empowered to pursue their ambitions and inspire the next generation.
The 2026/27 FNB Women’s Super League season is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, 7 November 2026, setting the stage for another campaign of exciting football and continued progress in the development of the women’s game in Namibia.
