A one-week Grassroots Football Development workshop, which concluded today in Karasburg, has been hailed as a significant step forward for the region’s football development. The workshop, aimed at empowering teachers and coaches, particularly those in rural areas, was attended by 32 participants.
Karas Football Region Chairman, Emrico Blaauw, expressed immense satisfaction with the program’s outcome. “This journey has been long overdue but undeniably necessary,” he said. Blaauw emphasized the importance of investing in grassroots development, particularly in underserved communities like Ariamsvlei, Grunau, Satco, Ubib, and Wortel.
The workshop, sponsored by the Namibia Football Association (NFA), equipped participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to nurture young talent. Blaauw expressed gratitude to the NFA for their support and to the organizers and facilitators for their dedication.
Calling on participants to put their newly acquired skills into practice, Blaauw outlined ambitious goals for the region. “We aim to reclaim Karas’s rightful position as the best football region with the most talented players in the country,” he said. The ultimate targets include winning the Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup with the regional under-20 team and increasing the number of Karas players in national teams.
The workshop is seen as a catalyst for change in Karas football, with hopes that its impact will be felt for generations to come.
