The Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi witnessed a clash of titans this evening, as the Tafel Lager Brave Warriors faced Ghana’s Black Stars in a high-stakes friendly match that ended in a goalless draw.

Coach Collin Benjamin, praised his team’s performance against the formidable footballing nation, saying “To produce chances against a footballing giant like Ghana is a testament to our team’s quality,”

“Tonight’s match showed that the Brave Warriors have character and work power, and are hungry. And hungry men, are angry men.” he stated.

His words reflect the hope instilled in the team as they gear up for the upcoming AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.

“This match has given us hope and confidence going into AFCON. I am proud of the display of work and resilience during the match,” he said.

Both teams, hungry for victory, engaged in a battle marked by equal chances but impenetrable defences and exceptional goalkeeping, denying any breakthroughs.

The Gaffer highlighted that the team’s objective going into the tournament remains to outplay their previous performances.

“We are Brave Warriors; nobody gives us chances, we take the. That also means that we do not only play for ourselves, the nation is our first priority.

“We stand a good chance this edition, and we want to make Namibia proud,”

The encounter also served as a reminiscence of the two team’s  previous meeting in a pre-AFCON friendly back in 2019, where Namibia emerged triumphant with a 1-0 win.

Although the match was not live-streamed due to its intended purpose for both teams’ preparation, the packed Baba Yara Stadium bore witness to the intensity and determination of both squads.

The lineup against Ghana showcased the depth and skill of the Brave Warriors, featuring Loyd Kazapua, Ryan Nyambe, Kennedy Amutenya, Lubeni Haukongo, Riaan Hanamub, Aprocius Petrus, Petrus Shitembi, Absalom Imbondi, Prins Tjiueza, Deon Hotto, and Peter Shalulile, a lineup that stood tall against the challenges posed by the Ghanaian side.

The performance against Ghana served as Namibia’s beacon of hope and ambition to leave a mark on the grand stage of African football.
