In a remarkable display of unity and support, the 4th edition of the MTC Knock Out Project is dedicating its efforts to raising funds for the Tafel Lager Brave Warriors, as the team gears up for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] to be held in Ivory Coast in January 2024.
The project, initiated by MTC, aims to achieve two significant goals: to ensure the team’s readiness for the prestigious competition and to propel them past the group stages.
MTC’s Chief Human Capital Corporate Affairs and Marketing Officer, Tim Ekandjo, spoke passionately about the team’s unwavering commitment and the lessons the nation can learn from their perseverance. He emphasized the sacrifices made by the senior national team players to qualify under the most challenging circumstances and applauded their dedication.
The project has set an ambitious target of raising 5 million Namibian dollars within a month. The funds of this effort will be announced on December 8, 2023.
As of now, the project has already received 2 million Namibian dollars from four corporate sponsors, with MTC pledging to contribute 40% of the 5 million target. Namibia Housing Enterprise (NHE) has pledged N$100,000, and the Hage Geingob Cup organizers will generously donate 100% of all gate proceeds from their event on November 18, 2023.
The Namibia Special Risks Insurance Association [NASRIA] is another organization that has joined the cause, further amplifying the collective support for the Brave Warriors and expressed its intention to support the cause.
His Excellency, Hage Geingob, the patron of the Namibia Football Association (NFA), expressed his pride in the Brave Warriors, emphasizing that their journey is a reflection of the spirit of Namibia. He encouraged the nation to rally behind the team and support them on their quest for success in AFCON 2024.
During the event, MTC Corporate Affairs Manager, John Ekongo, spoke on behalf of President Hage Geingob. Ekongo reiterated the sentiment that the Brave Warriors are the pride of the nation and that their story is a reflection of Namibia’s ability to succeed against all odds.
Filled with gratitude, an enthusiastic Brave Warriors coach, Collin Benjamin, shed light on the significant role that football plays in the lives of footballers, highlighting the importance of understanding the challenges faced by these athletes, and extended gratitude to all parties involved in the remarkable journey.
He said “The success of the Brave Warriors’ qualification showcases the incredible power of unity and the transformative impact of collaborations.”
