The Namibian Senior Women’s National team wrapped up their 2023 HolywoodBets COSAFA Cup games on Wednesday 11 October 2023.

The Gladiators played three matches in their group stages, putting on a brave performance against Botswana resulting in a one (1) all draw. The second encounter saw them lose 2-1 to Zimbabwe and they managed to collect a 2-0 victory over Lesotho in the last match.

Gladiators Head Coach, Paulus Shipanga was not impressed with the results but applauded his team for the effort and the discipline they showed during the Tournament.

“The results are not bad but it was not the outcome we were hoping for, we wanted to reach the next stage of  the tournament but overall we are happy with the discipline and skills the players showed during the matches. We know they can do more, achieve more and we will keep pushing them”

The coach further adds that COSAFA also served as preparation for the  2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers against Morocco and WAFCON Qualifier against Ghana.

‘’Due to financial constraints back home, we don’t get many regional or  international friendlies so COSAFA served more purpose to us; it showed the technical team what we need to work on, what we can capitalize on and what our weaknesses are and how we can work around them”

The Gladiators are back on the training pitch as they prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers against Morocco that will take place in Marrakech, Morocco.
