The NFA Cup Round of 16 produced a thrilling day of football across the country, with teams battling for coveted places in the quarterfinals in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

The day began with action in the women’s division, where Khomas NAMPOL Ladies secured an impressive 5-2 victory over Arrows Ladies FC. NUST Babes also booked their place in the next round after a convincing 4-1 win over Mighty Angels FC.

At 11h00, Young Brazilians FC delivered one of the standout performances of the day, cruising to a dominant 4-0 victory over Mkwamalanga FC. Windhoek City SC edged past Desert Foxes 2-1 in a closely contested encounter, while Okahandja United FC comfortably defeated Dynamos FC 2-0 to advance.

The afternoon fixtures provided plenty of drama, particularly in the penalty shootouts. KK Palace FC and Dates Eleven FC could not be separated after a thrilling 2-2 draw in regulation time, with KK Palace prevailing 5-3 on penalties. VEN Blue Waters and Square 7 FC played out a goalless draw before Blue Waters held their nerve to win the shootout 5-4.

Okamwandi United FC continued their impressive cup run with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over United Stars FC, securing their place in the last eight.

In the later fixtures, NDF Mighty Gunners Ladies FC produced the biggest win of the round, dismantling VPower Angels 7-0 in a ruthless attacking display. Meanwhile, Rundu Chiefs FC earned a valuable 2-0 victory over Life Fighters FC to progress to the quarterfinals.

One of the day’s headline fixtures saw UNAM FC stun African Stars with a 1-0 victory in the evening kickoff. Eduardo Namib’s decisive strike proved enough to separate the sides and hand the university outfit a famous win over the defending league champions.
