As part of the Namibia Football Association’s (NFA) Coaches Capacity Building Programme, the NFA will be inviting regional coaches, 1st & 2nd Division coaches to be part of the national teams’ training sessions. This week the NFA Technical Department invited the Southern Stream and Northwest First Division coaches.
“I strongly believe that one does not learn everything in the classroom and some learning can be done practically hence the introduction of the Coaches Capacity Building Programme, the training that takes place during the Brave Warriors camp is intense and has a different set up compared to club football, with this initiative , we are hoping that club coaches learn from national team coaches, this exposure will continue and be extended to youth national team coaches and regional coaches said NFA Technical Director, Jaqueline Shipanga.
She further added that the internship is a critical component of teaching as it is hands on experience unlike the classroom and practical exams, you are presented with real challenges not only how to deal with technical, tactical challenges but human relations as well.
The first coaches to be part of the Capacity Building Programme are from Oshakati based team, KK Palace, and the Namibian Correctional Services (NCS) team which is based in Mariental.
KK Palace Head Coach applauded the NFA for the initiative and is looking forward to learning from the experience.
“The exposure is amazing a few of the things are slightly like what we do back home at club level, but the tactical aspect is different, they are focusing on 1vs1 tactical play, and this is very important because players get to play both attacking and defending football. The learning experience is worth it, Collin has taken us in, and we appreciate that”.
