The 74th FIFA Congress is currently underway in Bangkok, Thailand. It will be the first that Thailand is hosting a FIFA Congress. 211 Member Associations came together to vote on several key issues – including confirmation of the host nation or nations of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027.

NFA President, Robert Shimooshili, Executive Council Member, Laurence Kandundu and NFA General Secretary, Charles Sikabongo Siyauya are the Namibian representatives at the Congress.

Speaking to NFA media on the Congress, Robert Shimooshili highlighted the importance of football leaders meeting and engaging.

“The atmosphere is great as FIFA members are excited about the gathering and are eagerly anticipating the different discussions on the agenda points. This is the biggest gathering of football leaders across the globe, and we are here to learn on new ideas on how we can better develop football in Namibia starting from grassroots initiatives to elite football for both men and women football.

Kudos to FIFA for being incredible host, FIFA arranged football matches for all its members, whereby Members association presidents, delegates and legends of the game played entertaining football which is line with the FIFA vision of “Football unite the world”.

The Congress has voted in favour of Brazil to host the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup
