Players to fight for the jersey against Ghana in Dr. Geingob Cup

The Brave Warriors will take on Ghana’s Black Stars in a friendly match on Saturday and Captain Ronald Ketjijere states that his side will give their best as they continue to fight for places.

“The local boys knows that they can claim stake in the national team and this is a chance for them to come through and be counted. Winning this cup last year was big as players were fighting for CHAN Finals berths and now we have the AFCON qualifier against Zambia and possibly the AFCON finals next year and the boys will surely be pumped up and ready to give their all”, Ketjijere says.

The African Stars midfielder adds that the game is very close to his heart as it is about honoring the patron of Football.

“The President has been patron of football for as long as I can remember and he has done a lot for the national teams over the years and we can only repay him by ensuring that what is named after him remains at home and we celebrate his legacy with him. So it will be a special occasion to even shake his hand and surely all the players will then understand what it means to play for their country”, Ketjijere explains.

The Black Stars are expected in Windheok on Thursday morning and the 2018 Dr. Hage Geingob Cup festiveness will kick off from 10h00 as gates open at the majestic Sam Nujoma Satdium in Katutura.

The first 5000 supporters will receive various souvenirs such as caps, t-shirts and other hampers courtesy of the event organizers and sponsors, MTC, Namibia Breweries, Huawei, NWR and Air Namibia. Tickets bought beforehand are N$30 each from Web-tickets Namibia at all Pick n Pay’s countrywide and Football House in Katutura.

There will be a “kick and win” with former goalkeepers against the fans, the latter winning prices country of the sponsors of the one-day celebratory event.

Top local musicians will entertain the crowd before the match as well as during half time and after the match – ARTIST such as Gazza, Exit, Female Donkey, Tequila, Tate Buti and The Dogg will be on the MIC and the first match of the day to start at 12h30 as the Young Gladiators face their seniors, U23s before main match kicks off at 16h00.
