Brave Warriors head coach Collin Benjamin was nominated for the COSAFA Men’s Coach of the Year Award. Benjamin took on the Braves as head coach in 2022.

His most memorable stunt with the team was defeating African giants, Cameroon 2-1, that win played a huge role in their qualification to the 2023 Total Energies African Cup of Nations that took place in February.  Under his guidance the Warriors managed to advance to the round of 16, the first for Namibia.

Benjamin spoke to the NFA media on the nomination.

“I am personally proud to be recognized on the achievements with the team on a regional level and obviously thank the main protagonist in all of this, which are the players for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to put Namibia on the map.  I want to thank the technical team for their tireless efforts with the team. We hope to continue working hard and reaching even greater levels.”

Collin is up against Mamelodi Sundown’s head coach, Rulani Mokwena and Morena Ramoreboli from Jwaneng Galaxy.

The winner will be announced at a gala awards ceremony in Durban on April 19, with a panel of judges from across the region having assessed their achievements for the period of January 1 to December 31, 2023.
