The Namibia Football Association [NFA] is proud to stand alongside the World Anti-Doping Agency [WADA] in celebrating Play True Day on 19th April 2024.

Since 2014, in April of every year, the anti-doping community worldwide comes together to celebrate Play True Day – a day that is dedicated to Clean Sport and raising awareness among athletes, the sporting public and others of the importance of preventing doping.

This global initiative champions clean sport, urging sportsmen and women to compete fairly and achieve their full potential without resorting to performance-enhancing drugs.

The NFA echoes WADA’s call to action, urging all Namibian footballers, from the highest league to grassroots clubs, to embrace the spirit of Play True Day. We believe in fostering a culture of sportsmanship and integrity within Namibian football.

Footballers are amongst the most tested athletes internationally. A single lapse in judgment can have devastating consequences. Not only could a positive drug test lead to individual sanctions, but it could also tarnish the reputation of the player’s club, the NFA, and Namibia as a whole.

The NFA encourages all footballers to prioritize their health and well-being. There is no shortcut to success that justifies jeopardizing your health and career. Together with the relevant institutions, we are committed to provide resources and support to educate players about anti-doping regulations and the importance of clean sport.

Let us celebrate the beautiful game for its true spirit – dedication, hard work, and fair play. Together, we can ensure a brighter future for Namibian football, built on a foundation of clean competition.
