Outjo Academy favorites in Kunene’s Debmarine Namibia Cup playoffs

The Cup of dreams, the Debmarine Namibia Cup kicks off on Saturday, 3 March countrywide with clubs in the First and Second Divisions battling it out for 16 places in the Round of 32 of the 2018 edition of the previous competition and Kamanjab will play host to the Kunene Region hopefuls.

The Kunene Region Debmarine Namibia Cup Preliminary Round will take place on 3 and 4 March at the Kamanjab Combined School after the draw was conducted on Thursday at the Oase Super Market at the town.

Outjo Football Academy, who last time out won the Preliminary Round, will open the action at 07h00 against Bethlehem Boys to be followed by Gariseb Orlando Pirates versus Robber Chanties. Green Dangers FC and PUBS FC will the battle it out at 09h45 to be followed by Kunene NAMPOL against Black Africa Warriors.

Revengers FC and Young Eagles will face off at 12h35 before the last first round match between Sixty Eleven and Etosha United at 14h00.

The quarterfinals will start at 15h25 with match-one pitting winners from the first two games and will continue on Sunday, 04 March at 07h00 all the way to the final at 14h00, all action at the Kamanjab Combined School Sports Stadium.

In 2017, The Kunene regional playoff were contested at Outjo Sports Stadium and Outjo Footfall Academy beat Okaukuejo’s Young Eagles 3-1 in the final to reach the Round of 32 where they defeated United Stars 4-5 on penalties after a one-all draw and eventually lost out in the Round of 16, 2-0 to Omaheke’s Eastern Chiefs at Mariental.

More regions are to submit their 2018 Debmarine Namibia Cup Preliminary Round fixtures to the NFA Secretariat before 27 February 2018.

At the elimination round, each regional winner will walk away with N$ 20 000, while the losing finalist with get N$ 10 000 and each losing semifinals with receive N$ 5 000 for their part in the football extravaganza. Two regional champs will then be drawn to face each other in the elimination match which will see one regional winner ousted from the competition.
