Newspaper Cup semifinals complete

Hardap Region booked a semifinal clash against Erongo as they defeated the defending champions Oshana 3-1 to go top after their final Group A game, while Otjozondjupa and will take on record winners Khomas in the second seminal on Easter Sunday at the Vineta Sport Stadium in Swakopmund.

Hardap region needed only draw to progress to the last four after Omusati blow their chance as they were held 2-2 by Zambezi and in the end the boys from the south Hardap were too good for Oshana beating them convincingly 3-1 and top Group A and book a clash against the ghost Erongo who qualified before they walloped Kavango East 8-0 in their final group B match.

For Hardap, a brace from Chris Jacobs and a goal from Brendon Kotungondo scored while Immanuel Kalla responded for Oshana. Hardap’s Johannes Hollombach was the voted man of the match.

Godwin Awaseb scored a hat trick and Mbakondja Tjahikika and Ezekiel Garoeb a brace each and Freddy Tsei-Tseib the eighth goal of the match. Adren Auchab was the man of the match.

Otjozondjupa region, with already win from their first game were 4-2 winner over Ohangwena to take Group C and will face Khomas, Group D winners, after the latter brushed aside Kavango West 4-0 in the final g first round match on Saturday night. Michael Kamuserandu, Man of the match, got a goal and so did Romario Hawiseb and a brace from Rivaldo Hifitikeko. Muahafa Kafula and Bobby Kotjipati scored for Ohangwena.

Tuhafeni Leonard, Siyabonga Ramakutla, George Hummel (two) scored for Khomas. Hummel won the man of the match award.

Another match of interest was in Group B as Omaheke beat Kavango East 2-0.The win ensured that the three-time champions finished a consolatory second to hosts and group winners Erongo. Man of the match Uaandjua Ndjavera and Mylon Kavari scored for Omaheke.

Altogether, 33 goals were scored on Easter Saturday.
