leo NFA Cup: Exciting clashes in the last 32

The last 32-draw for the annual leo NFA Cup was conducted at Soccer House on Thursday with two premiership clashes in this round of the competition proper.

The competition in its final third year with the sponsors leo will see defending champions African Stars taking on Tigers FC at the same stage of the competition as their last meeting in the competition which was won by the former.

Another all –Premiership clash will be between Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) against Blue Waters.

FIFA’s Football for Health Program comes to Namibia

FIFA’s chairman of its Medical Committee Jiri Dvorak lands in Namibia on Thursday for the implementation of the Football for Health program.

The Footfall for Health program is part of the Win in Africa with Africa FIFA iniitative and it educates the youth of Africa in a football environment to improve their knowledge, attitudes, skills and behavior towards different diseases.

Brave Warriors to host Malawi

Brain Isaacs is confident of doing well in his new position as care-taker coach of the national soccer team, the Braver Warriors.

Isaacs who was endorsed as the new coach for the Warriors after an NFA Executive Committee meeting held on 18 December 2010 will face his first task on February 9 as Namibia host Malawi in an international friendly match in Windhoek.

Gladiators draw at Angola in Olympic Qualifier

The national women’s soccer side, the Brave Gladiators recorded an impressive two-all away draw at Angola on Saturday to give them advantage in the second leg to be played on January 29 in Windhoek.

Goals from Tomalina Adams and Juliana Skrywer in the first 30 minutes to ensure a commanding lead for the visitors in Luanda as they start they London 2012 Olympic dream.

Despite the win, the match was marred by what according to the technical team of the Gladiators the fielding of four "male” Players in the Angolan team.

Young Warriors host Botswana

The national under-23 side, the Young Warriors host their Botswana counterparts on Saturday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium for the return leg of their 2012 London Olympic Games qualifier.

With a bulk of the players joining the team on Tuesday after taking part in Namibia’s under-20 first ever cosafa under-20 final in Botswana, assistant coach Ricardo Mannetti is satisfied with preparation for the crunch match.

“The other guys that were not part of the under-20 team were kept fit and active by the Technical Director at home”, he said.

Namibia finish second at cosafa youth champs

Namibia’s impressive run at the annual Cosafa youth championships came to a disappointing end yesterday as they suffered a 4 – 1 loss in Gaborone, Botswana, at the hands of defending champions Zambia.

The Namibian Under-20s were three goals down at half time and in the second half the powerful and dominating Zambians went four-up on the hour-mark to make it impossible for the young Warriors to come back into the game.

U/20 reaches Cosafa final

Namibia reaches the Cosafa under-20 final courtesy of impressive 3-0 defeat of Madagascar in the semi-final on Friday in Botswana.

Following their two-all draw with Lesotho and a two-nil victory over South Africa in Group B, the Namibians came into their semi-final clash against the islanders on high confidence. But the two teams weighted themselves well in 77 minutes of pay with either sides really creating clear-cut goal scoring opportunities.

U/20 reaches cosafa semis

The Namibia under-20 side has qualified for the annual cosafa youth championships semis after a convincing 2-0 win over arch-rivals South Africa in Gaborone on Wednesday.

The young Namibians booked their place in the semi-finals courtesy of their two-all draw with Lesotho in their open Group B match and followed that up with a thumping of South Africa.

Leo NFA Cup gets Underway

It’s all systems go for the kick off the 2011 edition of the Leo NFA Cup , as lower division clubs vie for honors starting this weekend.

The Leo NFA Cup for this season as launched at Soccer House on Wednesday and it was announced that the preliminary rounds for the first and second divisions countrywide will be contested before the final draw for the last 32 on January 2011.
