The national women under-17 side is ready for their first FIFA World Cup qualifier match as they take on South Africa on Saturday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium with kickoff at 16h00.

The team has been in camp for the last two weeks with 20 players fighting for places in the team that face their South Africa counterparts in the two countries first ever FIFA Women u/17 World Cup qualifiers.

Warriors draw, Gladiators lose

There were contrasting fortunes for the national senior teams as the Brave Warriors draw with Zambia and the Brave Gladiators lost at home to Tanzania in their African Women Championship qualifier first leg.

At the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, Zambia entertained the Warriors in an international friendly match as the former looks to wrap up their 2012 ACFON preparations, while the Warriors continues to prepare for a busy 2012.

Gladiators host Tanzania

The national ladies soccer team, the Brave Gladiators will have tough task game against visitors Tanzania on Saturday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium at 17h00.

The Gladiators gets their African Women Championship qualifiers underway on Saturday at home to Tanzania and Coach Jacqueline Shipanga expressed caution of the visitors.

“They are a tough physical side and they have already played at the African championships and also did well at Cosafa next year and we are expecting a tough game but we have a game plan and have worked really hard for the match”, Shipanga said.

Warriors take on Zambia

Brave Warriors coach Bernard Kaanjuka has released his training squad for the upcoming friendly match against Zambia in Johannesburg on Saturday.

The friendly match will form part of the two countries preparation for the 2012 AFCON finals (Zambia) and the 2013 AFCON qualifiers (Namibia) later this year and Kaanjuka was a happy man to have this friendly match.

Adams & Kasaona join Tanzania battle

Namibian women football foreign legion of Tomalina Adams and Mammie Kasaona jetted home on Tuesday morning to join up with the Brave Gladiators as Namibia prepares to face Tanzania in the African Women Champion qualifiers on Saturday.

The two players of SV Germania Hauenhorst Tomalina Adams a midfielder and Mammie Kasaona a defender joined up with the rest of the squad in a morning session at the NFA Technical Centre and expressed their readiness for the clash against the Tanzanians.

“We don’t know anything about them our coaches will tell us more but we are ready”, Kasaona said.

NFA expressed Dismay at CAS dismissal

The Namibia Football Association has expressed their dismay at the latest ruling in their case by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) which dismissed the appeal of the NFA against CAF.

On Tuesday 10 January 2012, the CAS rendered its decision in the arbitration between the Namibia Football Association and the Confederation African de Football (CAF): the CAS has dismissed the appeal of the Namibia FA and has confirmed the decision of the CAF Appeal Board dated 24 November 2011 and stated that the final award with reasons will be issued by the CAS in a few weeks.

NFA awaits CAS verdict

The Namibia Football Association awaits with bated breath on the outcome of their appeal case against CAF, regarding the eligibility of Cameroon-born Burkinabe player Hervé Zengue.

The NFA on Friday presented their case to the International Court for Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland and the President John Muinjo was a happy man.

Gladiators readies for Tanzania

The Brave Gladiators will start a busy year with a fixture against Tanzania in the African Women Champions qualifiers on Saturday, 14 January.

According to Jacqui Shipanga, national team coach, the ladies have been joined in camp by the national under-17 side, which also have a date against South Africa late this month over two legs as well, in the World Cup qualifiers.

The under-17s will be coached by Shipanga’s understudies, Bertus Bock and Jerry Zimmer as they face South Africa at home on January 21 with the return leg to be played on February 4.
