The Namibian Senior women’s national team intensified training as they continue with their 2023 Hollywoodbets COSAFA preparations. Coach Paulus Shipanga’s side will take on Botswana in their opening encounter. The team reported for camp in South Africa on Monday and will take on the Mares on 6 October at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Johannesburg.
Speaking to NFA Media Shipanga said the game against Botswana will be important in implementing plans that the technical team has worked on and it will also set the precedent on the performance of the team moving forward in the competition.
“We played against Botswana before and we are yet to record a win against them,we played them last year in Gaborone when they celebrated their independence and lost, the technical bench analysed a couple of their games, they are very quick, tactically well equipped and hold the ball well.” The past few days we focused more on conditioning and tried strengthening our vulnerable spots Shipanga told NFA Media
The coach further emphasized that the team is in good spirits, highly motivated and looking forward to the tournament.
“The camp has been good so far we are growing and learning. A lot of these players have been part of the team for a while now and they have played this tournament a couple of times,it’s not something new to them, the are fully aware of the competition and talent displayed here, they understand the assignment and are guiding the younger and new players.”
“No major injuries have been reported but there is a concern with flu in the camp because of the weather but the medical team is working hard to get everyone mentally and physically ready”
