The Young Warriors head coach, Lucky Shipanga says his team is ready to embrace the challenge when Namibia takes on Mozambique, with the coach calling on his young charges to show courage and character in what is expected to be a demanding encounter.
Namibia enters the fixture with positive momentum following Friday’s 1-0 victory against Mauritiu, a result the coach believes has boosted confidence within the squad while also reinforcing the need for concentration at this level.
“The result gives us confidence, but it also reminded us that every match at this level demands concentration,” the coach said.
The Young Warriors have also been boosted by the availability of a fully fit squad, with the players having worked hard during preparations for the match.
“We have a fully fit squad available, which is very positive for us. The players have worked hard during the preparation, and they showed it. They are focused and looking forward to representing our country in what we know will be a demanding encounter.”
However, the coach understands the challenge posed by Mozambique, particularly with the home side enjoying the backing of its supporters.
“We recognize the quality of Mozambique. They are a strong and physical team, and playing at home gives them an additional advantage. We respect that. We respect their players, their supporters and their occasion.”
Despite the challenge ahead, the Namibian camp remains confident in its approach.
“Our approach is simple: respect the opponent, respect the game, and give everything for our country, Namibia,” he said.
The coach also highlighted the youthful nature of his squad, insisting that inexperience should not be mistaken for a lack of ambition.
“We are a young team, but youth does not mean a lack of courage or ambition. These young warriors understand what it means to wear the national colours. They are hungry, they are determined, and they are ready to stand up for the challenge tomorrow.”
“We know tomorrow will require character. There will be difficult moments during the game. There will be pressure, and there will also be moments when we have to show character.”
