In a momentous feat, Namibia’s Tafel Lager Brave Warriors have etched their name in AFCON history by securing a spot in the round of 16 after a tenacious draw against Mali in the final Group E match in San Pedro.
Coach Collin Benjamin, brimming with pride, attributes this historic success to the relentless efforts of his hardworking players and the unwavering support of the entire Namibian nation.
“The journey we’ve embarked on in this tournament is a testament to the dedication and passion of our players. Each match has been a collective effort, and I couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved,” Coach Collin Benjamin expressed in a post-match press conference.
Namibia is one of the countries to have contested through three different cities, namely Korhogo, San Pedro, and now Bouake.
“Playing in diverse environments has been a unique experience for our team, and has in no way affected our performance. It showcases the unity and versatility that defines Namibian football.” said the coach.
The statistics underline Namibia’s impressive group stage performance, having secured two clean sheets and recorded a win, draw, and loss.
Coach Benjamin acknowledged the significance of these results, stating, “Our journey through the group stage marks a historic progression for Namibia. These achievements are a testament to the dedication and hard work of our players.”
As the Tafel Lager Brave Warriors gear up for the clash with Angola in Bouake on January 27, Coach Collin Benjamin conveyed his optimism, saying, “Our focus remains on the next challenge. We carry the pride of Namibia with us, and the upcoming match against Angola is another opportunity to showcase the talent and determination of our team.”
