The national futsal team, sports scientist, Garren Smith, gave updates on the team’s overall fitness in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Total Energies FUTSAL AFCON to be staged in Morocco from 11-21 April 2024.

“Our coaching staff has demonstrated unwavering commitment throughout these six weeks, tirelessly refining our training protocols to optimize player performance. The past two (2) weeks the technical team conducted thorough performance testing to pinpoint players’ strengths and areas that needed improvement”.

He adds that the focus has been on enhancing agility, explosive power, endurance, and overall fitness levels to ensure peak performance come competition time.

“While the team is showing promising signs of readiness, we recognize the importance of fine-tuning our approach leading up to the final weeks before the tournament. With strategic interventions and a holistic training approach, we are poised to showcase our best performance on the court”

Namibia will be making her maiden appearance at the 8th Edition of the competition alongside fellow debutants, Mauritania while Angola, Egypt, Ghana, Libya, Zambia and hosts Morocco are making a return.

The Namibian side affectionately known as the Brave Fives will play Mauritania in their opening fixture.
