Eric Quest, the 15-year-old son of legendary former Black Africa FC and Namibian national team midfielder Eric ‘Master Blaster’ Quest, is carving out his own sporting journey, travelling from the rugby fields of South Africa to the international football stage, one tackle, one pass and one juggle at a time.

For the young Namibian, sport is more than just a game. It is a passion, a journey of discovery and a dream he hopes will one day see him represent his country at the highest level.

Growing up with a father whose name is etched in Namibian football history has given Eric an early connection to the beautiful game. But while his father’s legacy is an important part of his story, the young midfielder is determined to make a name for himself, learning, growing and working hard to build asporting journey of his own.

Born and raised in Windhoek, Eric has never limited himself to a single sporting code. His football journey began at AC Football Academy before he moved to Khaizen Football Academy. Today, he continues to develop his skills with his father’s team, Quest 11, where he is steadily building his experience as a young midfielder in the MTC HopSol Youth League

Eric Quest’s journey across two sporting codes has already taken him further than many young athletes could imagine. On the rugby field, he has tested his strength and resilience against some of the country’s promising young players. On the football pitch, he is now taking his first steps onto the international stage.

His rugby journey has seen him represent Namibia at the Under-13 Craven Week as a flanker and the Under-16 Grant Khomo Week as a centre. In 2026, he also took part in the Wynberg Festival in South Africa with Windhoek Gymnasium, adding another valuable experience to his growing sporting journey.

Yet, despite the opportunities rugby has brought him, football has always held a special place in his heart.

“Soccer came first. My dad was a footballer, so I started kicking a ball at a very young age. Later, I decided to try rugby, and I fell in love with the sport, which led me to join my school’s team as well.

“Balancing both sports can be challenging, especially with the different training schedules and injuries that sometimes take longer to recover from. But I love both codes, and I’m still trying to find a better way to manage them while giving each sport the time and commitment it deserves,” Quest said.

For a 14-year-old with ambitions in two demanding sports, finding the balance is not always easy. Both require time, discipline and commitment, but Eric continues to pursue them with the same enthusiasm, determined to make the most of every opportunity that comes his way with football opening an exciting new chapter.

Quest has earned a place in the Namibia Under-15 squad participating in the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan an opportunity that has taken him beyond familiar surroundings and allowed him to experience the game on a much bigger stage.

“Football is very competitive, and being here and representing Namibia at this level is an amazing opportunity for me and my teammates. We want to make the most of this experience, learn as much as we can and hopefully create opportunities for one of us to be scouted. It would be a dream come true to see one of our teammates take that next step in their football journey.

“For now, my focus remains on improving my game, perfecting my craft, doing well in school and performing consistently in the youth league. I know there is still a lot to learn, and I want to keep working hard to become the best player I can be.

“My dream is to play at the highest level possible, make my family and country proud and, of course, make Jesus proud,” Quest said.
