NAMPORT has committed N$90 million to the Namibia Football Association (NFA) over the next three years, in what marks the largest sponsorship in the history of Namibian football.

The sponsorship, valued at N$30 million annually, is aimed at strengthening football development across the country, supporting national and regional competitions, youth and women’s football, match officials, clubs and broader football development structures.

The partnership was officially handed over during a ceremony attended by Namport and NFA leadership, with the contribution expected to create greater opportunities for players and communities across all 14 regions.

The significance of the investment was also highlighted by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who said sport remains a Government priority under the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), which seeks to build a sports industry that develops talent, creates employment and supports livelihoods.

The President welcomed the partnership as a meaningful investment in young people, noting that football contributes to the development of discipline, teamwork, leadership and resilience, while also creating opportunities for coaches, referees, administrators, groundskeepers, local businesses and communities.

She stressed that the impact of the sponsorship must extend beyond the national level, calling for its benefits to be distributed fairly across all 14 regions to ensure that young people in smaller communities are not left behind.

“Every dollar must be accounted for,” President Nandi-Ndaitwah said, emphasising the importance of transparent financial management, accountability and responsible use of the sponsorship.

She further called on the NFA to ensure professional management of leagues and competitions, timely payment of players and officials, investment in coaching, refereeing, women’s football and youth development, as well as clear pathways for player progression.

The President also urged the NFA to work closely with Namport, provide timely and complete reports, and strengthen administration across all levels of the game.

For the NFA, the sponsorship represents a significant opportunity to strengthen the football ecosystem and build on the progress already being made in developing the sport nationally.

The investment is expected to support the continued growth of football at grassroots, regional and national level, while creating a stronger platform for talent identification and development.

With the partnership running for three years, its success will ultimately be measured through tangible improvements for clubs, players, officials and communities, as Namport and the NFA work together to advance the development of Namibian football.
