8 May 2026 – The Namibia Football Association successfully concluded the FIFA Referees Instructors Course last Friday, marking another important step in the development of football officiating in Namibia.

The five-day course brought together refereeing instructors and technical officials from across the country, with the aim of strengthening the standard of referee education and improving the quality of officiating at all levels of the game. The course focused on modern refereeing techniques, interpretation of the Laws of the Game, instructor development, match analysis, and effective communication skills.

Speaking at the conclusion of the course, participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn from experienced FIFA instructors and exchange knowledge with fellow refereeing officials.

Oshikoto’s Referee Assesor, Frieda Uukunde, said the course had broadened his understanding of referee instruction and leadership.

“This course has given us valuable knowledge and practical tools to better mentor and develop referees in our respective regions. The lessons we received will contribute greatly to improving refereeing standards in Namibia,” she said.

The course also emphasized the importance of consistency, professionalism, and continuous learning among referee instructors as football continues to evolve globally.

NFA Acting General Secretary,Mabos Vries praised FIFA for its continued support in the development of refereeing in Namibia, adding that the course forms part of broader efforts to enhance football standards in the country.

The association encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the training to help nurture the next generation of referees and instructors nationwide.
