27 February 2026 -The Namibia women’s national football team, affectionately known as the Brave Gladiators, have made history by reaching the COSAFA Women’s Championship final for the second time after defeating Zambia 1-0. The last time the Gladiators reached the final stage of the COSAFA women’s championship was back in 2009, when the tournament was held in Zambia.

Their remarkable journey to the finals marks a significant milestone for women’s football in Namibia. Throughout the tournament, the Brave Gladiators demonstrated resilience, tactical discipline, and strong team spirit. Their performances against some of Southern Africa’s top teams showcased the steady growth of the squad and the development of women’s football structures back home.

NFA Acting General Secretary, Mabos Vries applauded the team and wished them well with the remaining fixture

“Reaching the final of the COSAFA Women’s Championship is not only a proud achievement for the players and technical staff, but also an inspiration to young girls across the country who aspire to represent Namibia on the international stage. The team’s success highlights the importance of investment, dedication, and belief in women’s sport. The NFA is forever indebted to FNB Namibia for providing a platform for young girls to play and showcase their skills” he said.

The Gladiators are set to play the winner between South Africa & Zimbabwe on Sunday, 1 March at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
