Defending champions,Omusati region are pitted against Erongo and Kavango East in the 2025 edition of the Nedbank Namibian Newsppaper Cup. The draw for the highly anticipated national youth showpiece was held on Monday,27 January 2025 at the Nedbank Head office in Windhoek.The annual competition which sees u20 regional teams compete for the championship is scheduled to be staged from the 18-21 April in Outjo.

β€œThis tournament, a beacon of hope and opportunity for our young athletes, holds a special place in my heart, a place woven with threads of passion, dedication, and the unwavering spirit of Namibian youth. The Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup has served as a vital foundation, a fertile ground from which clubs and national teams have scouted and selected their future stars said the Minister of Sports,Yourh and National Services,Hon Agnes Tjongarero.

Speaking at the draw of the Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup, the Managing Director of Nedbank Namibia, Ms Martha Murorua highligted the significance of the national youth tournament.

β€œA few years ago, we did not think we would have the honour again to officially launch Namibia’s most impactful sporting tournament for some of our most talented sporting stars of the future, and so I have an even greater measure of pride to stand before you today to officially launch the 2025 edition of the Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup.

She further said that as Nedbank Namibia they have an obligation to see Namibia flourish

β€œWhether weΒ honourΒ this obligation through providing the platform from which a spirited owner of a small business launches a mega business of the future; or share in the joy as a homeowner steps into her very first house of her own; or cheer from the sideline as a young netball player steps on to the court before going on to star for our national Desert Jewels, this will always remain an obligation that has our unencumbered commitment.

Delivering a speech on behalf of the NFA, the NFA Vice President, Murs Marks said that the executive council, management and staff of the FA are steadfast to accelerate youth football development from academies, grassroots, to regional second divisions to ensure that the demand and supply of quality football players to the Nationwide First Division and Namibia Premier Football League maintain its competitiveness.
