Ongwediva Queens star player,Vanessa Kanyama made the final squad of the Brave Gladiators that will play The Gambia in the WAFCON Qualifiers in Morocco.

The talented midfielder started playing football at the tender age of nine,she played for Oshakati Secondary School and made her league debut for Right Way FC in 2018. Kanyama moved to Ongwediva Queens for the 2023/2024 FNB Women Super League football season,she is a student at the University of Namibia (Oshakati campus) majoring in Public Health.

“ My first call up for the national team was in June,when the team was preparing for the Olympic Qualifiers against Equatorial Guinea but I failed to secure a spot in the final squad but that didn’t discourage me in fact it motivated me to start putting in the extra work. I’m delighted to be here,I’m willing to put in the work and go the extra mile. My goal is to remain a regular face in the squad and this call up is the start to achieving that.” Kanyama stated.

The Gladiators arrived in Morocco on Sunday, 17 September for the 𝙒𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣’𝙨 𝘼𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨𝘾𝙪𝙥 𝙌𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙨 (𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙣𝙚). The first match between Gambia vs Namibia is on 21 September while the 2nd Leg will be on the 24 September, both matches will take place in Morocco.
