Iimbondi joins Nekundi in attack for Morocco clash


Absalom Iimbondi wil start in attack with Panduleni Nekundi in the Brave Warriors 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) quarterfinal clash against host Morocco at the Mohammed V stadium in Casablanca on Saturday afternoon, 18h30, Namibian time.

Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti has named the starting up for the record-breaking tie against the Atlas Lions and Absalom Iimbondi, the goal scorer from the 1-1 draw against Zambia in the final Group B game will partner Panduleni Nekundi, the goal scorer in the 1-0 win over Uganda in the second group game that confirmed Namibia’s quarterfinal berth.

Iimbondi, who normally operates down the right wing will assist Nekundi upfront while the hard running Itamunua Keimuine will start on the right wing with Petrus Shitembi taking his place on the left of midfield. Ronald Ketjijere and Dynamo Fredericks will continue their work in the engine-room for a fourth consecutive game. At the back goalkeeper Loydt Kazapua will make a fourth consecutive start at the finals behind the rearguard of Ferdinand Karongee and Charles Hambira in central defence, Riaan Hanamub on the left and Vitapi Ngaruka on the right.

Theofilus Junias and Hendrick Somaeb are options in attack from the bench in a game that the Brave warriors will go all out and plot a semifinal spot. If the score remains deadlocked after 90 minutes, extra time of 30 minutes will follow and penalties will be used to determine the winner if no team takes the lead to the very end.
