Increased rewards in Debmarine Namibia Cup

The draw for the lucrative Debmarine Namibia Cup produced tantalizing ties and increased incentives for the players as Mariental and Walvis Bay are set to host the Round of 16 matches on 17 June 2017.

The much anticipated draw took place at the UN Plaza in Katutura on Monday afternoon and unveiled some exciting ties in the last 16 round of the Debmarine Namibia Cup with two confirmed venues of Khuisebmond Stadium in Walvis Bay and the Showgrounds in Mariental.

At Walvis Bay, Try Again will play Eleven Arrows, Touch & Go against Rundu Chiefs; Tura Magic against Gendev and UNAM against Mighty Gunners.

At Mariental Young African will take on Life Fighters in a match that is billed to be the encounter of the Debmarine Namibia Cup Round of 16; Civics will face Young Beauties, Young Chiefs will play Bee Bob Brothers and Outjo Academy FC against Eastern Chiefs. The exact times and order will be confirmed in due course.

The competition sponsors, Debmarine Namibia also announced some new exciting incentives for the competition. There will be Man of the Match awards from the Round of 16 to the final with N$ 1000 from the Round 16 and that amount increases to N$ 1500 in the quarterfinals; N$ 2000 in the semifinals and N$ 5000 in the final match. In addition to this gesture, the Man of the Match will have to select a charity of his choice that will receive an equivalent amount.

The last 16 clubs in the Debmarine Namibia Cup will receive an increased amount of N$ 20 000 from N$ 18 000 to prepare for the matches, the same amount all the way to the semifinals, while the two finalists will each get N$ 30 000 to help prepare for the title deciding match on 25 November

Announcing the increases and innovations, Debmarine Namibia Senior Financial Manager Willy Mertens reiterated his company’s commitment to football.

“Debmarine is aware of the government efforts to eradicate social challenges thus this sponsorship compliments those efforts to create opportunities for young Namibians. Supporting football is visible illustration of how we turn diamond dreams into reality”, Mertens said.
