The Namibian and the Nedbank teams played to a one-all draw while the Young Gladiators were emphatic 7-0 winners over the Erongo ladies on a very cold Easter Sunday night at the Vineta Sports Stadium in Swakopmund.

In the final exhibition match, the Namibia Team and the Nedbank Team clashed in a match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, with Isaskar Gurirab opened the scoring for the Nedbank Team which was brilliantly cancelled out by Penda ya France of The Namibian Team late in the second for the 1-1 final score. Venovineja Tjikundi from Khomas playing for the Nedbank Team walked away with the Man of the Match award.

In another exhibition match played, Invitational national under-20 women proved too strong for the Erongo women's side, running out 7-0 winners. The Baby Gladiators scored five times before halftime and added two more after the break in the lopsided encounter.

The gulf in class was evident from the get go as speedy winger Shanice Diaries opened the scoring inside 15 minutes following a sustained period of dominance by the national side. An own goal by a retreating Tjipekapora Kaovere a minute later made it 2-0 as the regional team began to wobble.

Diaries grabbed her second of the match soon after, before defender Lady Laksman put through her own net with a miscued attempted clearance. Anna Shikusho, Lady of the Match, who captained the national team, drilled in the fifth just before halftime.

The regional side put up a more resilient display in the second half as their more illustrious rivals had to wait until the final ten minutes to score their sixth goal through box to box midfielder Memory Ngonda. Substitute Iyaloo Rooi made it 7-0 on the stroke of full-time.

Easter Monday will see the programme start at 11h00 with a Third place playoff match between Khomas and Hardap and two hours later, the grand finale as Erongo and Otjozondjupa go head to head for the 2017 The Namibian Newspaper Cup title.

In 20 matches, excluding the two exhibition matches, the regional teams have scored 71 goals at the 2017 The Namibian Newspaper Cup edition taking place at Vineta Sports Stadium in Swakopmund, Erongo Region..
