Debmarine Namibia Cup set for next week

Lower divisions will enter uncharted territory on the weekend of 10 February onwards as the 2017 Debmarine Namibia Cup gets underway countrywide with great incentives at stake in the lucrative competition.

Diamond mining giants Debmarine Namibia and the NFA in December announced the a three-year sponsorship deal with N$ 14.1 Million that will see the return of Namibia flagship competition, the NFA Cup, in form of the Debmarine Namibia Cup and on the weekend of 10 February ,more than 250 players will strut their stuff in search of glory in the first competition of the new football season.

From Kunene to Zambezi, from Oshana to Otjozondjupa, Khomas down to Karas and Omaheke and Erongo regions, each political region’s second division clubs will vie for just one spot each to proceed to the last 32 round of the 2017 Debmarine Namibia Cup. Two regional champs will then be drawn to face each other in the elimination match which will see one regional winner ousted from the competition.

Three first division will also see clubs battle it out for one spot each of the country’s first divisions; North East, North West and Southern Stream first divisions.

And in the true spirit of the 2017 Debmarine Namibia Cup, winners of the elimination round will each walk away with N$ 20 000, while the losing finalist with be N$ 10 000 and the losing each losing semifinals with receive N$ 5 000 for their part in the football extravaganza.

From there on, ,the 16 Namibia Premier league clubs will join the fray in the round of 32- at which each club will receive N$ 18 000 all the way to the final for preparations while the overall winners will walk away with N$ 500 000.

NFA Secretary General Barry Rukoro confirms all logistics are taking shape for the opening weekend.

“ We are all excited about this venture and puling all stops to make sure the first weekend of the Debmarine Namibia Cup is a success. I can assure you that from the organizational point of view, we are on course and I have no do t the clubs are gearing up for this competition as well. This is football and I bet this cup will bring so many smiles on our people’s faces across board”.
