Warriors Squad for Lesotho Friendly on October 31

The national senior soccer side, the Brave Warriors will host Lesotho in an international friendly match on Monday, 31 October at the Independence Stadium.

The match to be the first of recently appointed acting coach Bernard Kaanjuka tenure will be played at 20h00 at the Windhoek’s Independence Stadium, the NFA has confirmed.

Kaanjuka last week confirmed that only local-based players will be used in the Lesotho match owing to the fact that the date is not FIFA International date and thus foreign clubs will not be willing to release players.

Gladiators to face Ghana in U/20 World Cup


The National women under-20 side will have to negotiate their way past Ghana in the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup first hurdle.

This follows the draw for the African qualifiers this week for the 7th edition of the tournament from 18 August to 9 September 2012 which will see sixteen teams, comprising representatives from all six confederations represented.

Namibia’s first assignment will be away to Accra on 18 February 2012 with the return leg in Windhoek scheduled for 3 March 2012.

HAIKALI goes for FIFA Certificate in Sport Management


FUTURO III Regional Instructor in administration and Management Mathew Haikali, has been accepted to attend the 2011 edition of the FIFA/CIES/NMMU Certificate in Sport Management at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa which commences on the 3 Oct 2011.

Haikali, a FIFA accredited instructor in administration and management has been accepted for the 2011 after having gone through an interviewing process.

NFA-Zengue case postponed

The Namibia Football Association (NFA) will have to wait little longer for CAF’s pronouncement on the status of Cameroon-born Herve Zengue, who featured for Burkina Faso over two legs in the 2012 CAF Nations Cup qualifiers this year.

Exciting Namibian Cup coming

The Karas and Otjozondjupa regions on Wednesday presented their 2012 and 2013 Namibian Cup hosting bids and vowed to take the competition to the next level.

Up first was the Karas region and according to their governor, who presented their bid to the members of the football family present and the media, Bernadus Swartbooi stated that his region is ready to host the Namibian Newspaper Cup in six months time and are working around the clock to ensure that it will be all-systems go comes Easter weekend of 2012.

Karas & Otjozondjupa Presents for Namibians Cup

Preparations for the next two editions of the annual Namibian newspaper Cup will hit top-gear after Wednesday’s final presentations by the two respective hosts, Karas and Otjozondjupa regions.

The two regions will be presenting their final bids to the NFA Namibian newspaper Cup organising committee as well as the media on Wednesday morning at soccer house in Windhoek.

Karas region were the only region to put in a bid for the 2012 edition of the under-20 championships, will Otjozondjupa gunning for the 2013 editions when the door shut on deadline recently.

Under-15 Champs succeed

Erongo Region took top honors at the National under-15 Championship held in Windhoek over the weekend at the Sam Nujoma.

The Erongo regional under-15 team beat Karas 4-1 in the final match in the winners section, while Khomas emerged 6-0 winners over Omaheke region in the Shield section on Sunday afternoon.

The championship brought together 165 players, 11 coaches, with the assistance from the Directorate of Sports, the Deutscher Fußball-Bund (DFB), YDF Namibia and the NFA.

Kaanjuka given Warriors job


The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has decided to appoint Bernard Kaanjuka as Brave Warriors care-taker coach with immediate effect.

The football authorities, the FA Executive Committee met recently to review the matter of the senior national team coach and appointed Bernard Kaanjuka as the acting coach after the agreement with Brain Isaacs ended with the Gambia match.

National U/15 Champs this weekend


The Namibia Football Association will be hosting a National U/15 Championship this weekend at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

The NFA together the Namibia Schools Sports Union (NSSU) with the support of the Directorate of Sports have invited players born in or after 1996, to trial for a team that will partake in the four Nations Tournament in April 2012 as well as in the 2013 African U/17 Youth Chapions qualifiers.

Each region will have a team of 18 delegates of which 15 will be players; while a coach, youth league coordinator and a grassroots trained coach will also accompany the team.
