Bester joins in for Angola friendly


Brave Warriors midfielder Rudolph Bester will join the team for the international friendly match against Angola on Thursday.

Shaanika at 2012 AFCON


Namibia renowned assistant referee David Shaanika will be running down the lines at the 2012 AFCON to be played in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea next month.

Shaanika, who had been busy throughout 2011 on CAF and FIFA assignments (course and matches), has been chosen to officiate at the AFCON next month and he expressed his satisfaction about the move by CAF.

“I am so glad that I have made this elite group of referees. It is great honor for me and I'm looking forward to it. I will go out there and do my best”, Shaanika said ecstatically.

Foreign-based Warriors keen to play Angola


Thailand-based striker Lazarus Kaimbi is expected to join the Brave Warriors team for the Angola clash on Thursday, 22 December in Lubango.

According to coach of the Warriors Bernard Kaanjuka, Kaimbi is expected to arrive in Namibia on Monday and the decision will be made about the travelling team once everyone has reported for camp.

“Yes, we understand Kaimbi will be coming, but we have to wait until we have him and then make a decision on the final team”.

CAS set Namibia Appeal date

The NFA will have to appear before the judges of the Court of Arbitration for Sports during 3 to 10 January 2011 to present their CAF decision appeal case.

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) based in Lausanne, Switzerland informed the NFA through its lawyer Rainhard Stuenkel that Namibia’s appeal case against a CAF decision not to exclude Burkina Faso from the 2012 African Cup of Nation after the latter fielded an eligible player, Cameroon-born Hervé Zengue will be heard during 3 to 10 January 2011.

Re-elected Muinjo seals Angola friendly

The Namibia Football Association (NFA) has expressed its gratitude to the Angola Football Federation, as the two organizations prepare for an international friendly match in Lubango, Angola on December 22.

NFA president John Muinjo expressed his association’s appreciation for the “cooperation and the trust that prevails between the two football associations and leaderships.”

Muinjo added that he requested the friendly match between the two neighbors, upon which his Angolan counterpart general Pedro de Morais Neto accepted.

Gladiators Tour North


The Namibia Football Association women desk will be touring the north of the country in search of talent that can be incorporated into the national teams.

The Tour De North will start on December 14 at Eenhana, Ohangwena region.

The Head Coach Jacqui Shipanga and her Technical Staff are looking at an opportunity such as taking the current and new players from the Gladiators squad to the areas(Regions) of Namibia where there is an opportunity to scout for players for 2012 World Cup and CAF Women Championship qualifications.

The young Warriors failed to reach the semi-finals of the COSAFA Youth Championship after losing 4-3 in an exciting match with Angola on Tuesday night at the University of Botswana Stadium.

In the deciding encounter to see who tops the group, Angola needed a draw while Namibia had to win to progress to face Malawi in the semi-finals on Thursday.

Namibia knew what they had to do and started like a house on fire, a they won a corner kick as early as the second minute of the match.

Nam on semi-final drive


Namibia improved on their great start to the annual COSAFA U/20 championship as they beat Madagascar 3-1 in a Pool D match at the Metropolitan Cosafa U20 Championships in Botswana on Monday ahead of their final group match against Angola on Tuesday night.

Namibia started off their tournament with a one-all draw against Zimbabwe with Hendrick Somaeb on the score sheet, while on Monday inspirational midfielder Petrus Shitembi handed Namibia the lead on 35 minutes, before he added a second with an excellent free-kick just before halftime.

Namibia face Zimbabwe at COSAFA


There will be four matches played on Day Two of the 2011 Metropolitan COSAFA Under-20 Youth Championships on Friday with some of the heavyweights of the region entering the fray.

There will be two matches each taking place at the University of Botswana Stadium in Gaborone and the artificial surface at the Molepolole Stadium in the village 50-kilometres west of the capital.

And at the Molepolole, the first game of the day at that stadium is in Group D sees Angola take on last year’s semifinalists Madagascar at 15h00.
