The Namibian u20 women’s national women’s team will be hoping maximise on their home advantage in this year’s edition of the COSAFA U20 Championship after missing out in November last year. Namibia will take on Mozambique,Botswana and Zimbabwe in their group A fixtures at the Region 5 Games in Windhoek from July 4-13.

“The group stage will not be easy, but we are determined to ensure that we make it through the group stage. The team looks good, we have a few players who played the COSAFA U17 Girls Championship in May, they understand the pressure that comes with playing international games” said assistant coach Errol Damaseb.

Women football is making strides in Namibia with young girls playing more competitive football and gradually taking up space in the national teams.Nancy Lebang who was the top goal scorer at the COSAFA U17 Girls Championship also forms part of the squad, other notable players are Nanami Uarije, Debora Vries, Grace Eises ,Joy Goses and Renald Damara who all featured in the CAF U15 Schools Tournament last year in Walvisbay and made the playing squad for the U17 team in May return to the forefront of the u20 women’s team.
