Namibia takes on Liberia for the FIFA World Cup qualification match on 5th June at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg. The Brave Warriors are placed in group H alongside, Tunisia, Malawi, Liberia, Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tome & Principe. Tunisia and Namibia are currently top of the group standing with six points each.
During the pre-match presser on the match ahead, Warriors Head Coach, Collin Benjamin highlighted the importance of a win on his side.
“It is our home game, and it is important that we collect the three points, but we also know that it will be a difficult game against opponents who mastered game transitions, we have to be aggressive with the ball and not allow Liberia to have those transitions and I believe with that we can get a win”
Benjamin touched on Shalulile being absent from the team.
Peter is our captain and an integral part of the team, his absence will be felt on and off the playing field, but we have a new squad, that is ready to market and put themselves out there for the rest of the world to see and I believe they are ready and up to the task.
The Brave Warriors are yet to make an appearance at the FIFA World Cup, when asked what the possibilty was, Benjamin said
“I think the nation and everyone out there can dream. We are on the ball right now and it is a lot of work that needs to be done right now before we can even think of that. Sweat, tears and maybe blood will be required. We must take it game by game. Improve the players, improve the team and it’s important that we keep giving it our all” said the former Warriors captain now coach.
