02 October 2025 – The Namibia Football Association (NFA), in collaboration with the Namibia Schools Sports Union (NSSU), is proud to announce the hosting of the National Under 15 Schools Football Championship for both boys and girls this weekend.

The championship will see full representation from across the country, with all 14 regions sending a boys’ and a girls’ team to compete. The tournament is scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, 4 and 5 October 2025 at three venues in Windhoek: the NFA Technical Centre, Technical High School (HTS), and Delta Secondary School.

It serves as a crucial platform for talent identification and the selection of players for the national Under-15 teams.

According to Nicholas Jacobs, NFA Education and TDS Officer and tournament co-ordinator, a total of 33 players for both the boys’ and girls’ national teams will be provisionally selected during this weekend’s competition.

Jacobs highlighted the significance of the event, noting that “it will be the first time that there will be a national football championship for boys and girls from all 14 regions.”

The selected players will begin preparation for the upcoming COSAFA Qualifier of the CAF African Schools Under 15 Championship, which is scheduled to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, in December 2025. Namibia hosted last year’s COSAFA Qualifying edition of the CAF African Schools Championship in Walvis Bay.

The technical teams for both the boys’ and girls’ national U15 squads are expected to be announced in due course to commence training and preparations for the continental championship.

“With the elections coming up and the schools closing earlier, these kids will be coming in and being prepared for that competition,” Jacobs added.

Jacobs also took the opportunity to express sincere appreciation towards the Namibian Government of Namibia for its invaluable support towards the championship.

Specifically, he acknowledged the government for availing transport to ensure that the regional teams could travel to Windhoek. He also thanked the various schools for accommodating the visiting teams in their hostels for the duration of the championship weekend.
