The Namibia Football Association (NFA) today celebrated the conferment of the prestigious CAF A Diploma on 10 local coaches.
Addressing the gathering, NFA Executive Council Member Michael Situde emphasized the significance of the CAF A Diploma. “This is not just a certification; it is a gateway to the highest echelons of African football,” he stated. The diploma is a prerequisite for coaches leading teams in prestigious continental competitions like the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederations Cup, and AFCON.
The NFA’s commitment to raising coaching standards was evident in the announcement that it would soon enforce similar requirements for domestic league coaches. “This initiative is not merely about adhering to CAF regulations; it is about ensuring that the quality of football in our country is consistently improving,” Situde added.
The CAF A Diploma also opens doors for Namibian coaches beyond their borders, providing them with opportunities to seek employment with elite clubs and national teams across Africa. This recognition underscores the growing stature of Namibian football on the international stage.
The NFA’s investment in coach development extends beyond the CAF A Diploma. It plans to host CAF B, C and D-Diploma courses for coaches at various levels, including grassroots and women’s football. These initiatives aim to create a pool of qualified coaches who can nurture talented players and contribute to the overall growth of the sport.
Situde said the conferment of the CAF A Diploma serves as a testament to the NFA’s commitment to excellence and its aspiration to compete at the highest levels of African football.
