5 March 2026 -The Brave Gladiators received a reward boost of N$ 300,000.00 from telecommunication giants as bonuses after their historic Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women’s Championship win earlier this month . The sponsorship forms part of MTC โs continued commitment to the growth of sport in the country, particularly football.
Each player and technical team member will receive N$ 10,000.00 from this monies.
Officials expressed their appreciation for the support, noting that corporate partnerships play a vital role in strengthening womenโs football and providing players with the necessary resources to compete at a higher level.
Womenโs General Manager at the NFA, Jacqueline Gertze highlighted the achievements and contributions of players from the Namibia womenโs national football team and their impact on the growth of womenโs football in Namibia.
โIt reflects on the historic moment in 2006 when captain Helvi Eliakim led the team to its first-ever final in the COSAFA Cup. In that memorable match played in Lusaka, Namibia defeated Zambia on penalties after a 1โ1 draw, with the late Stephanie Hummel scoring the decisive goal.Unfortunately, Namibia didnโt manage to beat South Africa in the final
She also recognized the leadership of Queen Manga, who later became captain of the team and continues to serve Namibian football as a referees administrator under the Namibia Football Association. In addition, she praised the journey of the Gladiator players who started playing football at the age of 10 in the NFA Gals & Goals League.
