Following a historic performance at the 2024 Total Energies African Cup of Nations (AFCON) where the Brave Warriors reached the round of 16 for the first time in history the team moved nine places up the world FIFA ranking to number 97th.

For the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the Warriors were drawn in group H alongside Tunisia, Liberia, Malawi, Sao Tome and Equatorial Guinea.

Namibia bagged three points against Equatorial Guinea in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Guinea before beating Sao Tome 1-0 last year in November 2023.

They then played to a 1-1 draw with Liberia and to a goalless draw against Tunisia in June 2024 at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.
