The Namibian senior men’s national full squad settled well in Monrovia, Liberia and immediately got down to business, they had their official training session (match day -1) at the Samuel Kenyon Doe Stadium earlier today. Namibia will play Liberia tomorrow, 9 October 2025 in their second last group match fixture.
With Tunisia earning direct qualification, Namibia will be hoping to head to the playoffs.
“The players understand the importance of the upcoming two fixtures and what is expected of them and how the results can impact the rest of the campaign ” explained vice-captain Riaan Hanamub.
“Tunisia may have qualified, but we still stand a chance to make it to the play offs provided we do well in these games and obtain maximum points. The entire team understands the task at hand with these remaining games, and we will go all out, the focus is not on the other teams or the group standings right now but just on what we can do on the playing field” he said
The top group runners-up in the African qualifiers will have a chance to compete for a coveted spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.In addition to the nine group winners who will qualify automatically, the four best runners-up will get the opportunity to play in a mini-tournament, with the winner advancing to an intercontinental playoff.
