The Baby Gladiators opened their COSAFA U17 Girls Championship campaign against Malawi, the Namibian side suffered a 3-0 defeat.Namibia defender Uakatavisa Tjihiku was the unfortunate scorer of an own goal. Ethel Tambala scored the second goal for Malawi while Faluna Umali scored the finisher.
Namibia’s Head Coach, Errol Damaseb said his side suffered from lack of concentration during the match.
“The girls did well, the team has been together from the CAF U15 Schools Championship that was played in October last year. We started off well, but we conceded two goals from set pieces, and we had to regroup. The second half went well but the girls started losing concentration during clinical moments and that is what caused us the match. We are going back to the drawing board and fix those minor clinical that caused us the games” he said.
Namibia will play their final group stage against Comoros on 13 May 2025.
All the action takes place at the Dr Hage Geingob Stadium and entrance is free.
