The Young Warriors have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Mozambique, Mauritius and Seychelles for the upcoming qualifiers.mNamibia will open its campaign against Mauritius on 18 September at the Zimpeto Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 12:00.
Speaking at the squad announcement, Head Coach Lucky Shipanga said the team is in good spirits, with the players confident and looking forward to the competition.
βMost of the boys played together last year, with the addition of a few players from the U-17 team who have been active this year. We also have a new addition from Germany,β Shipanga said.
The coach added that the squad is almost complete, with only the African Stars players still to join the group as they are currently away with the club for their CAF Champions League commitments.
Shipanga believes the blend of experienced players and new additions gives the Young Warriors a strong foundation heading into the qualifiers, and expressed confidence in the squadβs ability to compete and go deep into the tournament.
The Young Warriors will now turn their attention to their opening fixture against Mauritius as they begin their quest for qualification.
