The Namibia Football Association officially opened its FUTSAL Administration and Management Workshop on Friday at Football House in Windhoek, bringing together 28 participants, including four women, to strengthen the country’s FUTSAL structures.FUTSAL Namibia was founded in 2020 and has grown significantly with both senior men’s and women’s national teams having participated at the Total Energies FUTSAL AFCON Competitions over the past three years.
The four day workshop aims to equip FUTSAL administrators with the knowledge and practical skills required to effectively administer, manage and develop FUTSAL at club, regional and national level, while strengthening governance, competition management, strategic planning and the overall growth of the game in Namibia.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, NFA Course lead instructor Mathew Haikali challenged participants to rethink the role of FUTSAL, describing it as “a complete, intelligent ecosystem” rather than simply a pathway to 5-a-side football.
Haikali encouraged the participants to embrace their role as pioneers, emphasizing that the knowledge gained during the workshop would help shape the future of the sport in Namibia.
“The future does not ask for your caution. It asks for your conviction. Build boldly,” he said.
The workshop aims to equip administrators and FUTSAL stakeholders with the knowledge and skills needed to grow and professionalize the game across the country.
