The Namibia Football Association (NFA) continues to strengthen its commitment to creating safe, secure, and professionally managed football environments through ongoing capacity-building initiatives.
NFA Safety and Security Officer Jessica Nguaondu is currently attending the CAF/COSAFA Safety and Security Workshop, a regional programme designed to enhance the knowledge and expertise of safety and security personnel from Member Associations across Southern Africa. The workshop is aimed at providing participants with practical tools and best practices to improve match-day operations, stadium safety, risk management, emergency preparedness, and the overall spectator experience.
Key areas covered during the workshop included:
- Stadium safety and security planning in line with CAF and FIFA standards.
- Risk assessment and effective crowd management strategies.
- Emergency response planning and incident management.
- The roles and responsibilities of Safety and Security Officers during football events.
- Strengthening collaboration between football authorities, law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and other stakeholders to ensure safe and secure matches.
The workshop also created a valuable platform for participants to exchange experiences, discuss common challenges, and share innovative approaches to improving safety and security across the COSAFA region. These discussions reinforce COSAFA’s commitment to raising operational standards and promoting a culture of safety throughout Southern African football.
