The Executive Council of the Namibia Football Association [NFA] disqualified the Omaheke Regional Football Association from participating in the Southern Stream First Division 2026 Zonal Promotion Play-offs following serious concerns regarding the administration and integrity of the NFA’s 2025/2026 League Competition.
The decision emanates from the Executive Council’s consideration on a comprehensive submission presented by the Acting General Secretary, highlighting deficiencies in the governance framework, documentation and operational administration of the Omaheke Regional Football Association’s League Competition. The findings underscored the need for immediate corrective measures to ensure compliance with the NFA’s Statutes, Regulations and principles of good governance.
1] After careful deliberation, the Executive Council noted:
1.1] Serious concerns regarding the integrity of the Omaheke Regional Football Association’s 2025/2026 League Competition,
1.2] Incomplete and insufficient documentation submitted to the NFA Secretariat,
1.3] Failure to demonstrate that disciplinary proceedings were conducted in accordance with the NFA Statutes, Rules and Regulations,
1.4] A finding that the Regional Disciplinary Committee was not lawfully constituted.
2] Acting in accordance with Article 20.4 of the NFA Statutes and Rule 5.1 of the NFA Rules & Regulations, the Executive Council resolved to:
2.1] Disqualify the Omaheke Regional Football Association from participating in the Southern Stream First Division 2026 Zonal Promotion Play-offs in order to safeguard the integrity, credibility and fairness of the competition,
2.2] Mandate the NFA Secretariat to institute or facilitate an independent investigation into the administration of the Omaheke Regional Football Association’s 2025/2026 league competition and the disciplinary processes arising from the reported irregularities,
2.3] Determine that the Omaheke Regional Football Association will only be eligible for future participation in NFA competitions once the Executive Council is satisfied that:
2.3.1] all integrity concerns have been fully investigated and resolved,
2.3.2] its disciplinary structures have been lawfully constituted in accordance with its Constitution and the NFA Statutes,
2.3.3] all governance deficiencies have been remedied; and
2.3.4] it has demonstrated full compliance with the NFA Statutes, Rules, Regulations and the NFA Disciplinary Code.
The Executive Council reaffirmed that these measures are necessary to preserve the integrity, transparency and credibility of football competitions administered under the auspices of the Namibia Football Association. The Council further emphasized its commitment to ensuring that all Member Associations adhere to the highest standards of governance, accountability and fair play.
