Local law firm, Sisa Namandje Inc., has demonstrated its commitment to youth development by sponsoring the Namibia Football Association (NFA) with N$300,000 over three years. This significant contribution, amounting to N$100,000 annually, will directly benefit the NFA’s Third Division leagues.

The NFA has recently implemented a decentralized approach, empowering each of the 14 football regions to establish autonomous Third Divisions. These divisions will operate independently under their own constitutions and management committees, while remaining affiliated with regional structures.

Sisa Namandje, Senior Director of Sisa Namandje Inc., emphasised the firm’s dedication to supporting young people through football. “We are actively encouraging other legal professionals to join us in supporting the growth of soccer within our nation,” he stated.

NFA President Robert Shimooshili expressed his gratitude for the generous sponsorship. “Our manifesto clearly outlines the need for support from all Namibians, including the business community and the legal fraternity,” he said.

“The Third Division, encompassing both men’s and women’s leagues, forms the bedrock of our grassroots football development. We recognize that the success of our national teams hinges on a strong foundation built from the ground up.”

Shimooshili further highlighted the importance of creating a conducive environment for young players, emphasizing the need for safety, security, proper medical facilities, and qualified officiating. “These initiatives require significant financial investment, and we cannot achieve our goals without the support of all Namibians,” he added.

The NFA President stressed the unifying power of football and its potential to foster peace and harmony within Namibian society. “We urge all Namibian corporates, particularly law firms, to follow the exemplary lead set by Mr. Namandje,” he said. “By working together, we can ensure the sustainable growth of Namibian football and inspire future generations of talented players.”

Shimooshili concluded by emphasizing the importance of responsible fund management. “We must ensure that these funds are utilized effectively and transparently for the sole benefit of the players and the development of grassroots football,” he stated. “This will not only demonstrate our commitment to good governance but also encourage further sponsorship from the private sector.”
