To address the cultural and social root causes of Gender Based Violence-GBV,the Namibia Football Association (NFA) in collaboration with United Nations Namibia (UN), Ministry of Gender, Equality and Poverty Eradication commemorated the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence with a Mini Football tournament held at the NFA Technical Centre on Saturday, 7 December 2024.
The 7-a aside tournament saw Bank Windhoek Namibia, FUTSAL, Namibia Breweries Limited, Standard Bank Namibia, FNB Namibia, Media team, UN and the Ministry of Gender, Equality and Poverty Eradication and the Namibian Newspaper male employees participate in the first edition of the tournament. The NFA understands that GBV can not be solved over 16 days. This needs to be an everyday effort hence the FA committed to involving GBV courses in their yearly training programs as a tool to address GBV. Working closely with the United Nations, the training content and programs will be carefully tailored to each community, ensuring that the STOP GBV campaign reaches a wider audience in and out of the football community.
