The Namibia Football Association (NFA) in collaboration with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is hosting a Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP) National Workshop for the FAโ€™s members.

The workshop took  place on 29 and 30 July 2024 at Hilton in Windhoek and will focus mainly on the CAF Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP), with in-depth training sessions for users of the platform from the clubs. The general objectives of the workshop are:

  1. Present the CAF Club Licensing regulatory framework (edition 2022) for men’s and women’s competitions.
  2. Explain the mandatory criteria for continental and domestic competitions.
  3. Train users for the Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP).

NFA Executive Council member,Laurence Kandundu addressed the participants at the opening ceremony of the workshop โ€œWe are honored to have with us two prominent CAF instructors, Mr. Tebogo Motlande and Mr. Hotelio Marrengula, whose expertise and insights will greatly benefit us today. Your presence underscores the importance of our collective goal to elevate Namibian football

Kandundu highlighted the importance of Club licensing for member associations.

โ€œClub licensing is a vital component of the modern football ecosystem. It establishes a set of standards that clubs must meet in areas such as governance, infrastructure, financial management, and youth development. By implementing these standards, clubs can ensure they operate efficiently, transparently, and sustainably. This framework not only enhances the professionalism and credibility of clubs but also boosts their potential for growth and success. It encourages clubs to adopt best practices, leading to improved performances both on and off the fieldโ€

He further added that Namibian clubs aspiring to compete on the African continent, adopting club licensing is essential. By aligning with CAF’s licensing requirements, our clubs can better prepare for international competitions, ensuring they meet the rigorous standards expected at this level. This initiative will help Namibian clubs improve their organizational structures, attract higher-quality talent, and secure more lucrative sponsorships and partnerships.

โ€œAs we look to make our mark on the African football scene, embracing club licensing will provide our clubs with the tools they need to succeed, foster a culture of excellence, and inspire the next generation of Namibian footballers. Together, let us commit to this transformative journey and work towards a brighter future for Namibian football he concludes.
