GIZ equips NFA Girls Centre

The Namibia Football Association NFA) Girls Centre last week received a major boast as Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) presented them with lodging equipments to the value of more than N$70 000.

The NFA Girls Centre, opened in 2016, received 18 single beds and bedding materials to the total value of N$75 000 thanks to the long-term benefactors of women football in Namibia, the Deutche Geselschatf fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The intervention will enhance the Centre’s capacity to providing a safe and secure space for the football-playing girls.

Centre Manager Jackey Gertze explains that this latest support will also increase possibility of generating income for the sustainability by renting out some bedrooms to other sport teams.

“GIZ continues to be a key partner of women football development and we forever remain alert to maintaining this partnership. This gesture has helped us to furnish the second floor of the Girls Centre and the Girl Child and player remains protected and taken care of. We take care of girls from as far as Karasburg and Katima Mulilo”, Gertze says.

The Centre host 15 fulltime top players and offers education tutoring, vocational training and Healthy lifestyle activities to players.

The NFA Girls Centre is part of a German development cooperation project in close cooperation with the Namibian Football Association (NFA), the Namibian Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture (MYNSSC), German Football Association (Deutche Fußball-Bund e.V. |DFB), the Football and Athletics Association of Westphalia (Fußball- und Leichtathletik-Verband Westfalen | FLVW) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
